Smoker and Boxing Exhibition Tonight at National India Rubber

The National India Rubber Company hosts a smoker and boxing exhibition tonight in its factory recreation room to raise funds for the children’s Christmas party. Matches feature Warren and Bristol boxers in weights from 120 to 155 pounds, with an employees dance to follow in the packing department event.

Fire damages Thames Street store building

A Tuesday evening blaze at 336 Thames Street near Oliver Street damaged a roof and holes burned through. Four fire companies responded to a general alarm from District No. 14 as sparks from a locomotive on nearby switching yards reportedly caused the fire. The building, owned by the estate of Augustus Ko Paull and used as a vegetable storage by Benjamin Paull, was extinguished with booster tank hoses after engineers battled the flames.

Obsequies for Judge F H Hammill Held Amid Many Attendees

Hundreds attend the Wednesday funeral of Judge Frank H Hammill at 41 9 Woodlawn Avenue and St Marys Church. The service featured a requiem mass, solos by Anna Peters, and a benediction by Rev Fr Callan. Interment was at Jumiper Hill Cemetery in the family plot with over 200 floral tributes from relatives, friends, and organizations.

Tike baest Congregational Church will recognize Universal Bible Sunday with a service at 7 o clock in the DeWent Memorial Chapel. Nancy Bosworth and Kenneth Dunbar will recite the Shepherd Psalms. Boys and Miss Gladys Osterbergs class will compete naming the books of the Bible. Rev Herbert D Graetz will preach on Why Is the Bible the Book of Books. Roswell S Bosworth will sing a baritone solo.

Rotary Ladies Night Brings Fun at Hotel Belvedere

Members of the Rotary Club and guests enjoyed a lively Ladies Night at the Belvedere Hotel with place cards separating couples, lighthearted banter, a humorous hidden-teacher tables sweep, and songs between courses. The program featured crowd favorites and a notable “Mrs Emma” Rotaryanne moment.

Fire Laddies Plan Meetings and Banquets

Hydrauhon Dreadnaught Defiance and Ever Ready fire companies held Wednesday meetings to organize annual officer elections and banquets.
