Edwards wins seventh Rumstick Town Beach Swim title
K Edwards, 38, a Rhode Island attorney, claimed his seventh consecutive Rumstick Town Beach Swim title with a 36 27 time at Roostick Point Beach. Runner up was Winsor Coleman, 41, of Barrington with 40 08, followed by Robert Mercer, 25, Fall River, in 40 08 and Robert Oldham, 33, Warren, in 43 51. Bids Sought for 65 ft Snorkel Aerial Fire Truck
Bristol to advertise bids for a 65 ft snorkel aerial fire truck with specs to cost under 40000. Town plans a large new unit funded by 85000 appropriation, awaiting a public hearing and variance approval. Domenic Canna Named to Study Price on Minturn Farm Offer
The Town Council met with Dixon Corp vice president Thomas Feeley to discuss leasing five acres on Minturn Farm northwest corner for an industrial site. Domenic C Canna was authorized to appraise the land and set a fair price. Feeley indicated other town properties may be considered and a follow up meeting is planned for August 24.

Prudence Ferry Breaks Down For Second Time
The Prudence ferry suffered engine trouble yesterday afternoon forcing service disruptions to Hog and Prudence Islands. A 64-foot tug from the Co. G. Depot assisted after the breakdown between Hog Island and Bristol dock. The Bristol YMCA Day Camp was aboard as schedules were disrupted with the 5:10 p.m. and 6:39 p.m. trips canceled. Barbara J. Rocky Point ferry, owned by Phil Gladue, covered the last run at about 7:30 p.m.

Horseshoe Contest and Beach Party Set for Thursday
Tomorrow from all playgrounds children will join a Horseshoe Contest at Vets Park in juniors seniors and intermediates divisions. On Thursday the annual party for all areas will be at Town Beach with bus transport for 10 30 a m start and recreation areas closing for the day per recreation director Anthony Agatiello.
