Colt Memorial School Maintains Repairs Amid Small School Panel Vote

A brief Colt Memorial High School meeting logged 5 of 9 members present. Bills totaling 4446.02 were paid from regular and special maintenance funds for foundation and balustrade repairs. Bids on 16 wire window guards were approved, and fencing between Reynolds land and a neighbor was erected with an agreed encroachment. New hires and resignations were approved and Bertram W. Wall was granted leave to attend the American Legion convention.

Siting and Clambake of St Albans Lodge at Bristol Casino

The annual outing and clambake of St Alban s Lodge No 6 F F A M was held at Bristol Casino Bliven Field on Saturday. Chowder served at 1 PM and a program of athletic events followed. Bake served at 5 PM with 130 people at tables when the bake hole was uncovered. Winners included William Bottomley Louis Hoar John Birtwistle Arthur Barrett Miss Mary Newman and Mrs Gertrude Watson. A baseball game pitched George Boutilier and C A Ostby with Boutilier's team winning 7 to 4.

Fifth District Court Fines Speeding Suspects in Boston Case

John J. Foley was fined 15 dollars and costs after speeding arrest on the main road. Other defendants including John Smith Rauin Center and Fred Carr had cases continued due to absence. A separate assault case resulted in a 5 dollar fine and costs for the defendant. Civil actions Moreno vs Fernanes and Medeiros vs Francis were noted as defaulted or continued.

Senator Colt In Critical Condition At Linden Place

United States Senator LeBaron B. Colt, confined at Linden Place by illness for nearly two weeks, has developed heart and nephritis complications and is critically ill. Physicians Merriman and Fulton summoned Boston specialist Dr Christian for consultation. Colt rested comfortably at midnight though remains seriously ill.

Playground activities and upcoming block party announced

Children from both playgrounds plan a doll and animal show this afternoon with prizes for best dressed dolls and live animals. A Friday evening block party between Church and Court streets will feature music by Fred M Straight’s orchestra, dancing, and games for all ages.

Shenandoah Visits Town on Flight From Lakehurst

The Shenandoah airship passed over the town Friday after noon after leaving its Lakehurst headquarters. Crowds watched as it flew low and continued toward Providence, then toward Newport where the Patoka moored it for the night.

Tennis at Silver Creek Called Off Until Latter Season

Fore River of Quincy Mass was to play Excelsior Tennis Club but rain or scheduling canceled Sunday matches. Spectators saw singles between Fred Budlong and Fred Covill with Budlong winning three hard fought games. Budlong teamed with Nelson to beat Herreshoff and Covill 6 3 and 6 2 in doubles.
