Town actions include halting Mount Hope avenue sewer work at Simmons street and redirecting 350 feet of line northward to better serve the area. Junior Tennis Tournament Advances with Narrow Upsets
Three rounds of the Excelsior Junior Tennis Tournament were completed at Silver Creek courts. Vincent McGinn beat Hal Wilson in a three set match, while Tom O Connor defeated Margaret Morris. Jack O Connor and James Coutanche moved into the semi finals in their respective halves. Eustace Chapman edged Ottilha Geartner in a tight three setter as spectators watched closely. Draws for mixed doubles will be held tomorrow morning if enough players enter.

At a large Bristol Y meeting on Wednesday afternoon it was decided to hold the annual Y auto outing and clambake to Hicks Bridge Westport on Saturday Aug 16 leaving the Y at 1230. The event includes an auto ride a fine clambake bathing at Horse Neck Beach and sports at Hicks Bridge athletic field. Ticket sales close Wednesday Aug 13.

More than three hundred Bristol scouts and officers occupied Camp Yawgoog with Camp Tuoes housing the Bristol quarters. Fourteen boys left early due to crowded accommodations while awards and badges highlighted a week of ceremonies including bronze CV pins and first and second class badges.

Colt School Repairs Restore Front of High School
The foundation at Colt Memorial High School near Hope Street was rebuilt and the marble balustrade reset by A. W. Merchant Co. of Providence. A brick section affected by frost was removed and drainage installed to prevent future water damage. marble uprights and railing fitted with brass dowels.
