The Bristol Yacht Club hosted its second largest regatta as 100 crafts crowded the harbor with light wind. Rockwell's Wild Goose won Class A ahead of Sunbeam, with multiple class winners listed and awards at the Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport. Francois Levay de Wolf chaired a large committee that managed the event.

Bristol Children's Fund Drive sets $580 quota
Mrs J W Haley of Providence chairs the Bristol drive to raise $580 for statewide child welfare through the Rhode Island Children's Fund. Funds support agencies beyond Providence Cranston Pawtucket and Blackstone Valley with grants from local community chests. The 1930 study shows 30 percent outside chest districts requiring about $25,014.53 more this year.

Post 6 American Legion in Kearney elected Thomas A Hickey to head local delegates for the State Convention in Narragansett September 1 and 2. The group will attend in a body and support a District 2 gathering at Portsmouth Fairgrounds November 22. By-law changes set meetings for the first Friday each month, canceling the third Thursday session. The athletics committee may run a benefit clam bake using the Post name.

Town to adjourn meeting for further sewage study
The town council and a sewage pollution committee will reconvene Sept 28 after adjourning last night to study a new ozonation plus incineration sewage system proposed by the Brassett Company of Chicago. A test is planned in Chicago on Aug 19 and in Canal Street, New York, shortly after.

At a special town meeting in Reynolds School Bristol voters approved a $15000 Unemployment Relief Fund to aid distressed residents. A new eight member committee including Rev Anthony Parshley and Mrs Vasta La Ruggeiro was named to supervise disbursement under defined regulations.

Three Women Die As Yacht Capsizes Near Dyers Island
A Bristol Yacht Club regatta tragedy left three women dead when the sailing yacht May capsized in a squall off Dyers Island. Mrs Arthur Manchester Sr., 50, Miss Laura Manchester, 22, and Miss Edith Symes, 21, all of Newport, were lost. Only the owner, the male survivor, was saved by a passing boat about an hour later. The body of Miss Manchester’s sister was later recovered. the others remained trapped in the sunken hull.

Warren man escapes serious injury in Hope street crash
Manuel Miranda of Market street Warren narrowly escaped serious injury when his car skidded on Hope street. The vehicle struck a telephone pole opposite Usher Place on Bristol Neck, overturned after swerving past the next pole, and was badly demolished. Officer Euclid Demers investigated the accident.
