Town Meeting Faces Sewage Plan and Relief Funds

Taxpayers will meet Monday at 8 30 p m in the John Post Reynolds School auditorium to revisit a $266 000 sewage disposal plan now forecast near $240 000 and to consider a resolution providing public relief funds for the needy for the rest of the fiscal year.

Newport and Bristol Lions Plan Joint Outing

Arrangements completed for Newport and Bristol Lions Club joint outing at the Trotting Park on Bristol Neck. The event, set for Thursday August 13, features a chowder meal at 1 PM and bake at 5 PM with a varied sports program including the second in a baseball series between the Newport and Bristol clubs led by President-Manager Lanzire.

Theatre Party For Camp Takarest Children

The Boy Scouts at Camp Takarest and New York tenement district children vacationing there will be treated to a theatre party Tuesday. Sponsored by the Fresh Air Fund and Ladies Auxiliary of Kearney Post No. 6 American Legion, with gifts from Mr Lon Vail of the Pastime Theatre. C A Girls Club Plans Crescent Park Event

The regular C A Girls Club meeting was held Monday night in the club room. Funeral of Mrs. Sarah Dee Brown

Funeral services for the late Sarah Dee Brown wife of George Brown were held Wednesday at 2 oclock from the Mortuary Chapel in the North Cemetery. The Rev O T Gilmore student counselor at Brown University officiated at the chapel and conducted the committal at the grave.

100 Boats Enter Bristol Yacht Club Regatta

One hundred boats from sixteen clubs enter the Bristol Yacht Club regatta with eighteen classes, all arrangements set and breezes hoped for tomorrow after two in the afternoon. The event features Coast Guard supervision and an entry list with sail marks to aid land observers, as the Ida Lewis Yacht Club and Narragansett Bay Regatta Association joint races follow.

Water Battle and Carnival at Camp Takarest

At Camp Takarest on Mt Hope Bay the water carnival featured a water battle between St Michael's Boys' Club and Tent No 1 and 2 of the Boy Scouts. Tent No 1 beat Tent No 2 in the prelims, then St Michael's eliminated all but two of Tent No 1 to win the final. Winners included Jack Hoar Robert McGann Peter Sprague and Chester Warner with top awards in underwater swim 50 yard dash and obstacle race. Officials listed include Scout master Lawrence Ashton and judges James Connors William Poore and Louis Almeida with Rev. George H Toadvin Jr as scorer.

Mrs. William Leonard Manchester, Vice President General of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, attended morning ceremonies at 10 o'clock honoring the U. S. Indian Chief Urges Education For His People At Rotary

Chief Ousa Mekin of the Wampanoag and Penobscot tribes spoke at the Hotel Belvedere Rotary Club urging equal educational opportunities for Native Americans. He cited 362000 Indians on 161 western reservations and recounted his own life from mill work to Navy service and study to become a preacher. Applause followed his call for parity with immigrant assistance and recognition of Native contributions to history.
