New World Calendar gains UN backing for a fixed yearly cycle
The proposed World Calendar would fix holidays on the same weekday each year, with 52 weeks and 12 months. It divides the year into quarters starting Sundays, with special dates like Year End Day and Leap Year Day to stabilize the schedule. Support ranges from the Newspaper Advertising Executives Association to former Senator Truman and other groups.
