New Town Engineer Post Sparks Political Skirmish
The town creates a Town Engineer post after a floor fight between Democrats and Republicans over a building inspector. The engineer, likely to be chosen by the Town Council, would also serve as building inspector and incur higher annual costs, with potential fees from the inspector’s work. Officials expect the role to justify the added expense, while critics foresee it as a charade used against the town manager form of government.
