Two County Men Feared Lost From Showan Out of Bristol Yard
Two men Norman Sewell and Martin Gutowski left Bristol Harbor Tuesday aboard the sloop Showan for New York with plans for the summer season. After rounding Pt. Judith and docking at Harbor of Refuge, fog set in and searches began for Sewell and Gutowski. A dinghy, oar, and other signs were found, and authorities suspected they were lost attempting to reach shore in the tender amid liquor-influenced conditions. Aerial and ground searches by Navy helicopters, National Guard and Coast Guard resumed with worsening weather.
