The 96th anniversary of Odd Fellowship in America was observed by three local branches in Odd Fellows Hall. The program featured prayers, remarks, vocal and violin solos, recitations, a colonial minuet, and a closing America, followed by a fine collation.

Narragansett Rubber Co name change effective May 1
Terrence McCarty will rename his business to Narragansett Rubber Company on and after May 1 while keeping ownership and management unchanged. The plant produces 35 000 pairs weekly with 350 workers and payroll above $3 000, and strong orders for arctics for next season. Additional skilled workers may be hired, and McCarty’s experience and team support growth of the company in town.

Some Legends of Mount Hope booklet issued
Mount Hope financiers Haffenreffer and Flynn publish a handsome volume titled Some Legends of Mount Hope written by Wilfred Harold Munro of Brown University and the Rhode Island Historical Society. Legends include The Visits of the Northmen Massasoit Edward Wigslow and John Hampden and King Philip and Captain Benjamin Church. The book is richly printed with Indian engravings and a colored cover depicting an Indian camp with Mount Hope in the background. It is bound with strings of Indian Wampum.

Funeral for Frederick M. Barney Held in Warren
The private funeral for Frederick M. Barney took place Sunday at 1 pm at his brother Dr. M E Barney’s home in Warren. Rev. Louis P. Nissen officiated. Bearers included John J Robert D Thomas G and William Cook of the Dreadnaught Hook Ladder and Hose Company. Barney once ran a milk route from Hope farm and resided in this town for nearly 30 years. Interment followed at North Cemetery.
