Town Mig OKs Highest Budget Ever in Town Meeting
A record town budget of 1 280 062 56 was approved at the annual meeting in Andrews Memorial School gym. 293 taxpayers attended, the lowest in nine years. The tax rate rose from 36 20 to 40 29 per thousand. The sewer extension proposal of 120 000 was defeated. An 8 000 salary town engineer post was created, and a full-time building inspector proposal was defeated. 90 000 was approved for health survey, 7 000 for street repairs, and 20 000 for telephone building purchase and parking at Burnside Memorial Building.
