Bristol School Enrollments Forecast To Climb As Birth Rates Rise
The 1957-58 report by Supt. Edward J. Fitzgerald warns of rising birth rates impacting Bristol's schools. Ninth graders move to Junior High, Senior High capacity reaches 400 with space improvisation, while Junior High enrollment should fall as parochial schools expand. Elementary enrollment may rise again thanks to new housing and more families moving in. Bus fleet plans add 60 seats to meet projected needs, with 840 pupils anticipated in 1957-58. The plan also covers music rooms, health classes, and new space improvements.
