Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Murder in Providence
Antonio Carotunuti of this town was tried in Superior Court Providence for the February 16 murder of John Avano. Judge Sweeney sentenced him to 25 years in State Prison after a plea to second degree murder. Avano died two days after being stabbed at Church and Wood streets. he identified his assailant before death. Police witnesses Dwyer and Goff attended the proceedings.

Injured at Herreshoff’s Factory Planer Damages Fingers
John D. Dimond Jr. a carpenter at Herreshoff Manufacturing Company received severe injuries to his left hand while operating a planer yesterday afternoon. Doctors A M Merriman and W F Duffy performed amputation of the first finger between the first and second joints and the middle finger at the second joint. He was taken to his State Street home for recovery.
