Bristol Wins Honor Flag in Third Liberty Loan Drive

Bristol achieves the Honor Flag by surpassing its Third Liberty Loan quota with 361 subscribers totaling $165,000, led by Clinton T. Sherman and the Industrial Trust Co. committee. A community celebration at the Pastime Theatre is planned as the town aims to add the Honor Star with a larger subscriber base and stronger women’s committee effort.

Eagles Masquerade Ball Planned at G A R Hall

Plans are completed for a masquerade ball next Monday evening at G A R Hall in Bristol Aerie 953 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. The Crown Orchestra will play from 8 15 to 8 45 with Capt F M Straight musical director promising New York selections. Proceeds go to the Eagles Tobacco fund for national service boys. army and navy men are expected to attend if not on duty.

Third Liberty Loan Bonds dated May 9 1918 with stepped coupons

Bonds will be dated May 9 1918 and mature in 1928 with semiannual coupons. First coupon 5 percent due Sept 15, then 20 percent May 28, 35 percent July 18, and 40 percent Aug 15. Bonds owned by corporations under $5 000 par value counted as invested capital and exempt from federal income tax.

Judge Leahy to Speak on Thrift at YMCA Patriot Meeting

Judge FE L Leahy will address town boys 14 and up at the YMCA on thrift during wartime. The program includes patriotic songs motion pictures and mandolin solos by Hezekiah Church. All boys are invited to attend tonight.

N I R Co Minstrels Amaze Bristol In Grand Stage Display

The N I R Co Minstrels drew large crowds at the Pastime Theatre with elaborate satin costumes and Colonial attire. Ralph Holt Jack Birtwistle and Fred Foster led lively scenes while the Haydn Male Quartet pleased the audience. Henry Stites urged Liberty Loan support as E. E. Essex received a silver cup for conducting the musical portion.
