Bristol Brings New Rogers Free Library to Open Sunday

Bristol residents are invited to the official open ing of the rebuilt Rogers Free Library at 2 15 p m Sunday The library will move 5 000 volumes from the Makowsky Building to its new home next door Scouts will assist in the move Fireplace and landscaping by local firms, with dogwood trees donated by the Bristol Garden Club Autographs planned by Mrs Frank Pardee for Grandma Wears Blue Jeans and George L Howe for Mount Hope A New England Chronicle.

Second Polio Shot Due This Saturday Says Jaycees

The Bristol Jaycees announce a second polio immunization clinic on Saturday April 25 at Andrews Gym from 10 am to 1 pm. Those who received the first shot April 4 should return for the second. others may attend for at least one vaccine. Grant Hyhivens, Jaycee chair, urged boosters for those shot more than a year ago as Dr Jonas Salk recommended. Dr Samuel D Clark presented a $600 gift to Rogers Free Library for the Janet Clark Memorial Fund, with $500 added to principal and $100 for books.

Local Attorney Peter N Kinder Admitted to Massachusetts Bar

Peter N Kinder son of Mr and Mrs Joseph C Kinder of 48 Walley St has been admitted to practice before the Massachusetts Bar. The 24 year old attorney is a 1955 Princeton graduate and a 1958 Harvard Law School graduate. He is active in the Boston real estate business.

Warning System Has Defects In Nelson Beals plea to fix local alarms

Nelson Beals defense director says last Friday's practice alert went smoothly except for audible sirens in northern sections. He urges residents who could not hear the alarm to contact him at CL 3-7938 to help remedy the defect.

Rhode Island Foundation Publishes 1958 Annual Report

The Rhode Island Foundation reports for 1958 show grants totaling 104 25100 and assets rising to 2 855 238 00, a new peak. Over sixty groups across education health recreation and culture received support including 500000 grants to Kent County Hospital and the Salvation Army for a South Providence nursery and a $400000 grant to the Rhode Island Historical Society for a gallery at Power Street.

F L Martin Heads Hist Soc. Again

Judge Frank L. Martin was re elected president of the Historical Society at its annual meeting held at Pattho House of St Michaels Church. In commemoration of Lincoln's birth the society opened new quarters on Court St May 9 from 2 to 5 pm as part of RI Heritage Week. Norman Herrshoff will open the Herreshoff Flamestead on Hope St. Other officers elected include Edwin F. Morgan vice president, Mrs Hope M. Cote secretary, Miss Charlotte A. Young treasurer, and Mrs Alice B. Almy curator. The board includes Norman F. Herreshoff, Robert L. Hammond, and Miss Mary Callan. The nomination committee is chaired by Mrs John R. Watson. Leonard Pannaggio will speak May 25 on The Battle of Roanoke Island. Refreshments followed the meeting.

Frank Caizzi received the highest score in Bristol Senior High School’s 1959 mathematics contest sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America. Principal John L. Burke presented the award on Friday.
