Bristol Town Council Plans 250th Anniversary Committee

The Bristol town council met Tuesday night approving a 25 member committee and a $1 000 fund to plan the 250th settlement anniversary in 1930. They also discussed a sewage disposal plant, veteran burial plots, and May feasts with street closures and fireworks. Eleven named officials and groups were listed for various observances and town matters.

Twilight League forms in Bristol town with four to six teams

Twilight League base ball plans mature as managers and officials meet at Rockwell Hall YMCA. A board of governors was elected with James F. Duffy and George J OBrien among members. The league may start early with forfeits and police protection. a next meeting is set for Monday evening.

Yachtman Robert W Emmons 2d Found Dead at Buzzards Bay

Robert W Emmons 2d famed yachtsman was found dead in his car in the garage of his Buzzards Bay summer home likely from carbon monoxide poisoning. He was 56 and had long ties to the Herreshoff shipyard and the New York Yacht Club, steering Resolute in the America’s Cup campaigns and later mentoring Vanitie. He planned to sail the Dauntless this summer in the New London to Santander race. He served as a lieutenant commander in World War I and belonged to the New York Yacht Club since 1902.

Daughters of Union Veterans Meet in Odd Fellows Hall

Mary Ann Atkinson Tent No 4 of the Daughters of Union Veterans held a Wednesday evening meeting in Odd Fellows Hall. The initiatory degree was conferred on two candidates and a public bridge was scheduled for Wednesday evening May 20 after a Tent meeting. A social hour with music and refreshments followed.
