Hydraulein Engine and Hose Company received a gift of five gallons of scallops from Ockland Maine via the Americus Hook and Ladder Company. A scallop supper for about 40 people, including Town Council members, was held at the engine house with social and musical entertainment.
The Gilt Edge Express from Boston crashed into a rear local from Boston at Bradford station six miles east of Westerly. At 7 32 last evening the express struck at 50 mph on a wet track, signals reportedly against it. Eight killed and at least 35 injured with a fire destroying the rear car and Bradford station. the local engineer faced arrest.
