State House Budget Debate Sparks Humorous Budget Row
In the 1958-59 budget debate in the state House, Speaker Harry Curvin halted a disstaff member over procedure while Louise Stoddard vented objections to Executive Branch funding. Rep. John Wrenn led sharp quips about GOP objections, with Kiernan and Malley trading barbs. Budget Director Howard Kenyon aided Rep. Wrenn as the debate grew into a spectacle and tempers flared.
