Drunken Driving Case Continued In Fifth District Court

In Providence Fifth District Court Judge Lindemuth heard Leo Sylvia of 80 Campbell Street North Providence plead not guilty to operating an auto on Metacom Avenue while under the influence. The case was continued one week. A Blessing car struck by Sylvia’s vehicle overturned injuring Miss Alice Coughlan. One drunkenness case was fined $2 and costs. A special session before Judge Laindemuth fined James J Garvin $20 and costs for discharging firearms on Wood Street.

Chimes of Normandy to Be Staged for Bristol Artillery Benefit

Thursday and Friday performances of the operetta Chimes of Normandy at the General School auditorium feature a large local cast led by Mrs Theresa Donovan and Mrs Cora Shaw Anderson to raise funds for the Bristol Train of Artillery. The production includes a major chorus, an extensive orchestra, spectral scenery, and elaborate costumes, with dress rehearsals underway and advanced ticket sales promising large audiences.

School Board Sets Three Percent Salary Cut Plan

Bristol School Committee approves a temporary three percent reduction in teachers and staff salaries for this fiscal year to saved funds after a town meeting cut. Supt Mapes says salaries will revert with September raises and that unpaid bills of about 2500 will be addressed with stringent economy.

Bradford Durtee Bosworth, known as Brad, ends 57 years on rails with pension and Honor Roll status. He began April 6 1874 serving Bristol Providence routes through multiple company mergers and electric branch upgrades.
