DAV honors two at Lawson-Raiola chapter gathering
Francis P. Cuoma and Anthony Balzano received top DAV honors Tuesday at Tweet's Restaurant with seventy attendees. Cuoma, VA volunteer service officer, earned a plaque for 26,000 hours at Providence VA Hospital. Balzano won the national Q citation for leadership in surpassing this year's membership quota.

Parochial School Closing Adds Budget Totals and Appointments
The school board approved in principle the plan to lease St Marys Parochial School and adopted an operating budget of 95447 for the added facility. The move closes the parochial school at year end, transferring about 180 pupils to public elementary grades. The town would cover janitor, utilities, and related costs with a one year lease no rent. The cost estimates include 16000 for site operations plus 300 for telephone, and 69617 for added teachers, supplies and other expenses. Fifteen teachers will be leaving next year with as many as fifty five vacancies likely. New hires for next year include activities across elementary and secondary levels and multiple towns and cities.
