Bristol Town Council Calls Special Meeting On Building Law

At the monthly Bristol town council meeting the unanimous view was to draft a building law for the town and present it to the legislature. Officials discussed finances, land rights along Griswold avenue and shore access, and approved licenses and public works.

Pastime Theatre Benefit for British Relief Society Draws Crowd

The Pastime theatre hosted a Wednesday evening entertainment for the British Relief Society of Rhode Island. The show featured pipe, vocal and instrumental performances, a five reel war film program, and letters from service members. About 120 dollars was realized, the theatre filled, and performers received applause and bouquets for their work. Master Horace Mitchell impressed with violin studies and sparked two encores.

Firemen Hold Meetings and Elections in Town

Monthly fire company meetings covered personnel changes and event plans. The Dreadnaught company named John J. Mc Mann Second Assistant Foreman, a minstrel show was scheduled for April 27, and visits to several fire company fairs were arranged. A member serving in France sent a letter, and decorations included a 10th anniversary celebration for the Defiance Company.

At State Street M E Church Rev. Dr. A C McGilton will speak on Why Was He Ashamed vs The Tempter Tempted. Sunday evening observes the 50th anniversary of General Lee's surrender with a Peace subject and decorated interior. Local veteran groups and Boy Scouts to attend with transport provided.

Pastime Theatre Presents Elinor Glyns Three Weeks

The Pastime theatre screens Elinor Glyns love drama Three Weeks in five parts this Saturday evening with Madaline Traverse and Mahlon Hamilton in lead roles. The New York Herald praises its vivid interest and lack of offense. The film, praised for adventure from the popular novel, follows a Providence run at the Hip.
