Bronze Star Awarded Captain Neal for St Vith Rescue Mission
Captain William W. Neal of the 106th Infantry Division earned the Bronze Star for heroic action delivering ammunition to besieged units around St Vith Belgium. He and Captain Kuzell and soldiers braved shelling and infiltration to supply the Lion Division and rescue potential casualties, amid a fluid battle around the Ardennes road hub. Neal, a University of Kentucky graduate, previously worked for the Lexington Herald Leader. his home is in Lexington. His wife Mrs Gertrude O Neal resides with her aunt in Bristol.
