Private first class William J Bottomley son of Mrs Catherine Bottomley of 4 Howe Street has been a prisoner of the German government since November 28 after going missing in action on November 14. A January 2 letter from Bottomley covers Christmas and New Year prayers and Mass with remarks on awaiting release. He is a Brown University graduate who had Army Specialized Training at the University of Pennsylvania before joining the infantry.

Soldier Wounded in Germany March 7 Named Warner
Pfc Chester A Warner son of Mrs Bessie A Warner of 87 Burton Street was wounded in Germany on March 7 according to a telegram to his mother. He told her in a prior letter he was in a hospital in England likely to stay six weeks. He serves in the XI Armored Division under General Patton and returned home for Christmas before overseas duty. He has served three years in the Army. his brother Cpl Raymond Warner is an Army engineer overseas for over two years.

DuPont Named Bristol Sewer Commission Chairman
Anthony W. DuPont was elected chairman of the Bristol Sewer Commission at a Wednesday meeting, replacing Donald Gladue who had held the post seven years and was re elected as commissioner. War Dept. lists S Sgt Perroni killed over France in Oct 1943
The War Department confirms S Sgt Anthony Perroni was killed on October 14 1943 returning from a bombing mission over Germany. He was 24, a Holy Cross graduate and Boston University law student who joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. He was the 37th Bristolian to die in World War II.
