Country Elevators Storing Grain For CCC Surplus

Two Boys Chosen for State HS Chorus in Champaign
George Edwards and Harold Pacey from Bimfieldgh have been named state chorus representatives for the annual Champaign concert on Friday November 7. About 200 high school students will form the chorus and 200 the orchestra directed by Olaf Christianson of Oberlin. Edwards a senior active in athletics dramatics and music will sing bass while Pacey a junior with strong music interest will sing tenor. They will train with Miss Liedstrom before final rehearsals in Champaign on November 7 and 3. Selections must be memorized for the final rehearsals under Prof Christianson. This promise a valuable experience for the boys who look forward to the occasion.

Local Merchant Celebrates His 80th Birthday in Brimfield
O. Cady, Brimfield's oldest merchant, marks his eighty first year and sixty years at the Main and Galena corner. Born October 20, 1859 to Curtis and Abigail Cady, he began as an apprentice with Herrington & Herger then Hayes, forming Cady & Hayes in 1892 and later Cady & Son after partners retired. His long career spans a life devoted to local retail.

Mrs. Barbara Reinhart died Monday evening October 16 at her son Henry Reinhart's home after a week bedfast following a stroke. She was 82 and lifelong resident of Sickapoo zona Brimfield. Rufus Payton died at Proctor Hospital in Peoria Monday morning at age 80. Services were at Lugg and Holiday Funeral Chapel in Monmouth Wednesday afternoon with burial in Brimfield cemetery. He was born March 25, 1859 in Wheeling West Virginia. Survived by wife Lissie Judkins of Monmouth daughter Mrs J Allison of Peoria granddaughter Mrs Fred Saas of Columbia Ohio and two great grandchildren Frederick and Carolyn Saas.
