Red coral has long been valued beyond jewelry for protection health and mystery. Ancient Gauls used coral in shields while Italians and Indians seek its auspicious power against the evil eye. The Washington Post notes the Mediterranean Africa coastal reefs supply most of the world’s red coral, mainly harvested by Italians.
Pillman and Archibald were wed in Keokuk Iowa on October 21 1939 with Rev Mrom Bayes conducting at the Methodist parsonage. Attendants Miss Nelda Sherman and Dale Abbadesky, bride in royal blue velvet groom in Oxford gray. They will reside locally where Archibald recently began work at a cold storage plant after leaving a meat market.
The high school operetta supervised by Mias Kathryn Lind Atrom was presented Friday evening. The amusing mystery story was performed with dramatic skill and near perfection by about 65 young players. The audience was fair sized and appreciative.
A Brimfield Public Schools report showcases honor roll students across grades with many A and B grades. Illinois law requires displaying the American flag in every classroom. Friday, Nov 3, is a school holiday as high school staff attend Urbana conference. Grade School teachers test other schools. Band members excused to attend Marine Band concert in Peoria.
Mr and Mrs H Brustoga and LeRoy and Mrs Charles T Hayes and daughter Jean Marie visited Sun day at Macowb with the Miner Bravinga family. Mr and Mrs I B Schenk and Bobbie visited Roy Maxwell family at Yates City Sunday. They were arriving in Abingdon during the big fire in the business district Sunday.
Harry M. Burns born June 23 1905 in Indianola Iowa died September 30 1959 at Iowa Methodist hospital Des Moines aged 34 He taught in Sandyville and New Virginia schools later worked as a photo technician at Waltz Studio Des Moines Married Leah Maher September 11 1927 at Cottage Grove Presbyterian Church Des Moines He belonged to Westminster United Presbyterian Church and Wave Land Park Lodge He survived by his widow a son Bosby two sisters and two brothers Casket bearers listed from Burns Maher and Burns families Des Moines Register
The Rev Donald Salmon will lead a ten evening preaching mission at Union Church starting Wednesday November 1 Services begin at 7 30 with the film I Am the Way shown before each sermon The whole community is invited to attend and cooperate for a significant religious event

Mrs A D White dies at daughter Ear Douber's home. Mrs Stanton Moegave hosted a birthday dinner for Si nions with Amy Moore Oren Warble and Kenneth Moore. Improvement Society meets Friday at Mrs Lydia Purcell's. bring sewing for hospital.
The Brimfield Red Cross will hold its annual meeting Wednesday at 2 30 PM at Mrs C D Forney's home. Officers will be elected. The public is invited to attend and help the chapter.
Funeral services for Barbara Reinhart were conducted at St Josephs church in Thorsday October 19 by Rev Thomas Warrisee. She died October 16 at home of her son Henry after a brief heart attack. She was born November 25 1857 near Kickapoo to John and Mary Schlink and married John A Reinhart October 79 1880. She leaves three sons Frank Peoria Henry Bamfield and Geo Scranton eight grandchildren a brother and sister and many relatives.
The Reishart and Reinhart families express heartfelt gratitude for the sympathy and services offered by neighbors and friends during their bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reishart, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reinhart, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Reinhart extend thanks.
Services in memory of Richard A Whittaker were held at Ballock Funeral Home Princenlie with Rev T L Kneebone officiating. Burial at Princeville cemetery followed. The obituary notes his birth near Laura on November 2 1889 and death October 21 1939 aged 62 years 11 months 10 days. He married Black Bellard on December 15 1897 and left two children Willa Paape and Leonard, plus three brothers and two sisters Joome Wasson Andrew Samuel John Banomah Heames. Two grandchildren Phyllis and Nancy Paape survive along with many relatives and friends.
All girls interested in winter 4-4 Club will meet at Mrs Walthers home on a Saturday after noon at 4 o clock. It will be an organization meeting and every girl should be present. Certificates and guild seals will be given to those who completed their summer work.
A large gathering celebrated Henry Arnold’s birthday Sunday at his Elmwood area home. Guests included Lave Arnold, J W Harder, Garrison Patterson and son Charles, Harrican Patterson, Janice and Ho, Roger Sears and Bonnie Jean, Clare Arnold and Bobbie, plus Dackie Davis as host helpers. Friends presented a cake named Apple Dumpling with three candles to mark the occasion.
A large audience attended Tuesday's Grange gathering where five new candidates were presented for initiation. Grange interest centers on the national convention in Peoria in November.
