He calls for restoring confidence in government and neighbors, warns of 12,000,000 unemployed and the need to put people back on private payrolls, urging decisive action and common sense.

The high school music department schedules an operetta for Friday October 20 at the campus. The glee clubs, directed by music supervisor Kateryn Reindstrom, feature three acts with a court yard setting and a rustic campus scene. A cast of characters will perform in a lively, student-led production next week. save the evening for the show.
Laura residents and visitors from West Jersey Peoria Rockford Duncan and Maquon attended gatherings and calls during the week. Mrs Clarence Emery and Mrs Frank Carter traveled to Peoria for a Home Bureau Christmas lesson. Mr James Kemper and family spent time in Peoria due to the death of C C Leach. funeral services were held at Camerford Endsley and burial followed at Maquon cemetery.
Miss Jenonte Gibbs of Southport born October 6, 1839, will celebrate her centennial tomorrow. She moved to Brimfield thirteen years ago to live with her niece Mrs A. S Herriott and has long enjoyed flowers and birds. Educated in Southport and Elmwood, she recalled artist Lorado Taft with fond memories. Aides and many nieces and nephews plan a simple family observance.
The library received an atlas of Taxing Units of the State of Missos for 1039 prepared by the state tax commission. Anyone interested may access this atlas by calling at the library.
Mrs Mary Snerman of Knoxville and Mrs Chell Graves of Versailles Ohio visited our school on Monday and Thursday with Ralph Matt and family. They attended the Americas Legion convention in Chicago.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church for James L. Murdoch who died Thursday morning after a brief illness. Born July 16 1865 in Jubilee township he lived in Brimfield all his life operating a meat market and as a stock buyer. Survived by wife Pearl Kirkpatrick three daughters Virginia Doubet Cornelia Blundys and Harriet Brimfield three grandchildren and siblings with several nieces and nephews. Burial followed at Brimfield cemetery with pallbearers listed.

Funeral services for Mrs Amelia Farnum who died suddenly at her home in Elmwood Monday afternoon will be held this afternoon at 2 30 in the Kilmwood Methodist church where she was a member for 68 years. Rev M J Gall will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Survivors include Joneson Dr C G Farnum of Peoria and one grandson Charles Farnum, a medical student at Northwestern University.
Roberta Bowman a Western State freshman was elected vice with a strong showing, while her friend Jan Thoupeon joined Sunday guests at the Bowman home. The event highlighted Bowman as a rising figure in campus press activities.
