Survived by three sons Ray William J and Ralph, grandson Ray Gene, two granddaughters Gwendolyn and Dorcas, two brothers James Cowan and Charles Cowan, sister Mia Cassie May Corbin of Toledo.

Brimfield High Leads National Solo Contest Division

Brimfield High School earned top honors in the National Solo Contest in Indianapolis this week. Joe Fluenty won first rank in the solo division, advancing from district and state levels with prior experience two years ago as a second division placer. County Legion Holds Regular County Council Meeting

About a hundred Legionnaires from Peoria county gathered with the local post for the regular county council. After a brief business session the program featured music by Roth and Bernice Bragg and Rudolph Savage, a dance by Jo Ann Kingdon, a reading by George Edwards, and a talk by Rev. Albert D. Palmer of Bartonville Methodist Church who recently spent time in Europe and shared his observations. The gathering concluded with coffee, pie, and doughnuts.

Laura school closed last Wednesday for a picnic. Mrs Don Webster and children spent Friday in Kewanee. William McDenna of Monica is new mechanic at White's garage. Mr and Aryan Lynn Nightingale of Princeville were callers here Thursday. Genevieve Rocer of Monica spent Friday at the McBenna home. Roy White shipped a car pad of stock to Chicago last week and accompanied them. Neva Riel and Mrs Clarence Beiderbeck were business callers in Galesburg Wednesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Alan Donivant and June of St David spend a few days at the Atha Donivant home. Mr and Mrs Lee Burgess and Miss Carrie Smith of Monica called at the Robert Barrett home Thursday afternoon. Mrs Johnnie Whittaker spent Thursday in Kewanee with her mother, Mrs Best Bill at the hospital. She is reported some better. Mr and Mrs Clarence Beiderbeck and Phyllis drove to Chicago Sunday to meet Mrs Wary Biel who spent the winter with her daughter in New York. Mrs George Pacey died suddenly at her home in Buckley last Sunday May 14 according to news received by Mrs Chalmer Forney recently. Her vista band, a distant cousin of Mrs Forney, survives.

James Albert Bridson Rites Held in Princeville Church

James Albert Bridson, longtime area resident, died May 16 in Moline Hospital after an illness. Funeral held at Princeville Methodist Church with Rev. A A Rodgers and Rev. J C Caine assisting. Survived by wife Lillie, four children Merle dead, Myrtle, Marilla, Florence, five grandchildren, sister and many nephews and nieces.

Shirley Culbertsen Celebrates Fifth Birthday Party

Monday May 22 marked Shirley Culbertsens fifth birthday with a party attended by Harriett Clark Mary Ann Capron Marilyn Tucker Virginia Carter Doni Bown Dale McKown Bobbie Schenck Carol Lee Forney Mary Ann and Karen Lo Mulvaney Joyce Koy Ronald Tucker Earlene Collina and Robert Catton. Afternoon games and two candy decorated cakes with ice cream and lemonade followed the celebration. A second birthday dinner was held on Tuesday at the Bishop Cafeteria with Shirley as guest.
