Santa Claus to Appear at Brimfield Christmas Tree

The American Legion and local businesses host a Friday night event at the park corner with Santa Claus arriving at 7 30 pm. The High School band will play Christmas carols followed by bells and a reading of The Night Before Christmas. George Edwards reads, and Santa distributes treats to all children from babies to high schoolers.

Christmas church events fill week with music and masses

A Methodist church party Thursday evening includes a reception for Rev Reed and wife and Rev Hendrickson. Union Church hosts a pageant and White Christmas celebration Thursday night. Sunday at 11 the choir performs a Christmas cantata with solos and choruses. Rural schools stage programs, Lutheran church holds 10 o’clock service, St Joseph's offers masses at 6 and 10.

Regional Director H L McCarthy outlined five key criteria for Federal old age insurance eligibility: must be 65 or older, employed outside excluded occupations, hold a social security account number, file a claim with a field office or the Bureau of Old Age Insurance, and for death before 65, nearest kin or estate files. He noted benefits are 312 percent of wages since January 1 1937 and monthly retirement payments start in 1942.

No Rural Delivery Saturday Christmas Day

There will be no delivery on the rural route Saturday Christmas day. Window service at the post office will close at 9:45 a.m. Acting postmaster advises keeping in mind that cards mailed after 8:00 a.m. Friday will not be delivered on routes until Monday.
