The Brimfield region reports baptisms at the Congregational church and a mix of farm prices and business notes. Corn, oats, and wheat prices vary. eggs and butter show changes. Local transfers include the West End Grocery sale, cattle shipments to Chicago, and postal notes on dead letter office cases. Also mentioning Thanksgiving games and war thrift drives along with a pumping station project and weather-related harvest weather.
The schedule lists games for Princeville, Yates City, Pekin Jr. Varsity, Danlap, Elmwood, Cillicothe, Glasford, Silmwood, Glasford, Chillicothe and Dunlap with home and away dates from November through February. The Danlap tourney runs January 26 to 29, and the slate ends February 18 with Chillicothe Bere.

The Union Church school prepares a Christmas play by both primary and junior departments to be staged Thursday evening December 3. The choir will aid in carol singing. Separately the Peoria Cage Bird Fanciers Club held its third annual show at the Jefferson Hotel on December 3, 4 and 5 with Forney's listing 21 entries and multiple ribbons cups and medals.
Revived by the Legion last year after a lapse of years the community Christmas celebration gained broad support and left a pleasant holiday memory. French Grove S uns Barbara Smith and sister Mrs. Robert Tucker were Galesburg callers last Thursday. Mrs. Verne Shaffer and Miss Mldr ed Littlefield recently enjoyed a visit with Mrs. Harriett Reed at Jacksonville. Edward Aates Jr of Princeville called on cousins here Wednesday and stopped for dinner with Mr and Mrs S A Kellogg. Mr and Mrs Albert Mather and Albert Edgwin also Mrs Bertha Murdock were first of the week guests at the Erman Kirtley bone. Mr and Mrs Edson Pursell and Mr and Mrs Russell Pursell were Saturday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Harry L Reed. Mr and Mrs C E Wassisr and daughter Mrs C N Adams of Canton were Tuesday visitors with Mrs Fairy Carter. Mrs Francis Bodinus and Mr and Mrs Fal Welch were callers for the afternoon.
Brimfield residents urged to buy Christmas Seals from a school child to support Peoria county health services. Pennies to dollars raised fund tuberculin vaccination clinics chest clinic and county dental clinic with service based on seal purchases. W P Shaban of the tuberculosis association stresses that the preventive work must continue despite modest gains last year.
The High School operetta, staged Monday by the glee clubs under director Miss Rachel Lohman, impressed with careful training and hard work by the cast. A smaller crowd, due to a postponement caused by a soloist's illness, offered warm praise and positive remarks.
Bamfield Post 4520f of the American Legion will host the county organization next Wednesday evening December 15. All Legion men are requested to attend this meeting. E D Garchy of Galesburg will be the speaker, with entertainment by local talent. Refreshments follow and a big attendance is anticipated. The usual door prize will be awarded. W. F. The boys continue to win defeating a 2A junior varsity team at Pekin Friday night. We host Dunlap here Friday night and hope Ralph Carson won’t have to cut that mustache.
The dramatic society of St. Josephs church presents a three act comedy Two Days To Marry at the Community Building on Sunday December 12 at o clock with a free dance for attendees. The Lutheran church ladies hold their annual bake sale and bazaar at the Auto Sales Rooms on Saturday December 11. Baked goods dressed poultry candy and fancy work will be for sale. Advance poultry orders through Mrs Sieben Reents or Mrs Harvey Ekena. Lunch served at noon.
Lutheran church notes list Sunday School at 10 a m and service at 7 30 a m. Bible class and Christian Endeavor meet first and third Tuesdays at 7:00 pm led by Henry Traub. Pastor.
Methodists unite preaching and church echoe into a single service at 9 oclock ending at 1030. Sermon titled The Three Ce. Friday December 10 a settlement day for church finances. December 16 Iatien sid meeting with Mrs Walter Clark. Christmas program set for December 23 at the church with tree presents program treats and receptions for visiting pastors.
Final rites for Charles W. Freeman who died early Thursday morning at his daughter Mrs O E Overen's home were conducted Friday at the Overen residence by Reverend Charles Thorne of Elmwood Presbyterian. Burial was in Springdale cemetery Peoria. Survived by daughter Mrs Dois Overen Brimfield and son Seth W Freeman Des Moines. One son Dadiey L Freeman preceded him in death.
Mrs Josie Hargadine a long time Princeville resident died at her South Walnut home Monday after a brief illness. Born June 19 1866 at Rosefield Township Pesia County Illinois she had been married twice first to John Yess with two sons and later to Lewis Hargadine with a daughter Julia and three more sons. Survived by husband five children four grandchildren two sisters and many relatives. services held Thursday at St Mary of the Woods with interment in St Marys cemetery Princeville.
St Josephs Church lists Mass on Sunday at 10 00 and Mass at Williamsftield at 8 00 with catechism classes on Saturday at 2 30 pm led by Father Thomas C Garrison pastor.
The Woman's Association will meet with Mrs C L Haven on Thursday December 9 at 4 30 pm at Landhislde Brimfield for a Christmas program instead of the regular book review. Members are asked to bring a 10 cent gift for the exchange. An evening program for youth will follow with Tunch pep singing reaper service Clara study period and recreation. Committee members unnamed leaders Gale Foster Jean Knight Gertrude Wagner and Mary Etta Edwards. David Toda pastor invites Ali Bamfield twelve and older to attend.
Mr and Mrs Merle Slocum spent Saturday night with Mr and Mrs Bert Slocum and departed Sunday morning for their new home in California.
