Tragic Elmwood Accident Claims Two Firemen
Two Elmwood men Aliton Clark and Keith Uuens died after asphyxiation in a septic tank while aiding neighbor Marc Shissier who was overcome. Fire department inhalator squad revived Shissier. Clark and Uuens perished in the tank. Funeral services held for Clark. Lucas buried in Brimfeld cemetery. Clark co owner of the Elmwood Gazette. Lucas served in Navy and was fire department secretary treasurer.

Robert Tucker Receives Safe Driving Award
On December 3, Robert F. Tucker was presented a gold pin by Postmaster Frank W Clark on behalf of the National Safety Council for eight years of accident free driving on his rural route. He has logged over 115 000 miles without a fault and, after 37 years delivering mail, has had only one unavoidable accident.

Taxpayer Help Program Aims Self Help In Chicago Region
The 1956 IRS taxpayer assistance program in the Chicago Region runs January 7 to April 16 1956 and focuses on helping taxpayers help themselves. It shifts from preparing returns to guidance and instructional materials sent to taxpayers. Telephone help will be offered district wide with on site assistance for those unable to prepare returns and supervised self help. An extensive educational campaign will inform taxpayers about how to complete forms and comply with the tax rules.

Brimfield defeated Winamsfield 63 43 with Nyaal Cecil scoring 30 and Wyman 9. Dasao and Ashley each had 6, Herder and Bigee 8. Brimfield led 22 13 at halftime and 41 34 entering the final period. In the early game Brimfield fell 68 35 with Wyman 17 and Dangan 6 each for Brimfield. Emwood beat Brimfield 70 54 on Brimfield’s home floor. Wyman led with 17, Cecil 10, Ashley and Dungan 6 each.
