Tragic Elmwood Accident Claims Two Firemen

Two Elmwood men Aliton Clark and Keith Uuens died after asphyxiation in a septic tank while aiding neighbor Marc Shissier who was overcome. Fire department inhalator squad revived Shissier. Clark and Uuens perished in the tank. Funeral services held for Clark. Lucas buried in Brimfeld cemetery. Clark co owner of the Elmwood Gazette. Lucas served in Navy and was fire department secretary treasurer.

Postoffice Holiday Use Announced

Effective December 12 to 24 inclusive outgoing mail closing times are 10 30 am 12 30 pm and 4 30 pm This week the local Post Office distributes forms for mailing Christmas cards If patrons bundle local and out of town letters using these forms delivery will speed up Additional forms may be obtained at the Local Post Office.

Robert Tucker Receives Safe Driving Award

On December 3, Robert F. Tucker was presented a gold pin by Postmaster Frank W Clark on behalf of the National Safety Council for eight years of accident free driving on his rural route. He has logged over 115 000 miles without a fault and, after 37 years delivering mail, has had only one unavoidable accident.

Legion Auxiliary Plans Dues Report and December Meeting

The membership chairman Irene Taylor will contact members to report 100 percent dues paid before January 1. There will be no sewing meeting in December. The regular business meeting will be held at 2 pm on Thursday December 1.

Miss Michael Antonacci and Clinton Nauman wed at Brimfield in a 9:30 am Saturday ceremony officiated by Rev. Thomas C Harrison. The double ring service featured white mums, organ music, and vows as family members served as attendants. After a reception at Silver Leaf Pavilion the couple departed for Indianapolis and will reside in Williamsfield.

At the regular meeting of the Laura Ladies Society plans were made for the annual Masaar. It was decided to hold the Masaar and cafeteria dinner in the church basement Saturday December 1 beginning at 1 PM. Committees were arranged by President Mrs Kellogg. Taxpayer Help Program Aims Self Help In Chicago Region

The 1956 IRS taxpayer assistance program in the Chicago Region runs January 7 to April 16 1956 and focuses on helping taxpayers help themselves. It shifts from preparing returns to guidance and instructional materials sent to taxpayers. Telephone help will be offered district wide with on site assistance for those unable to prepare returns and supervised self help. An extensive educational campaign will inform taxpayers about how to complete forms and comply with the tax rules.

French Grove and Wheaton residents visited in Hubert Oakes and Clark homes. The group included Leo Rahn Linda Clark David Clark and Elisa beth Oakes. Lutchka-Pacey Bridegrooms At Davis Memorial Church

A reception followed. couple left for a short wedding trip and will reside in Beecher where the groom teaches. Brimfield string of wins highlights Friday games

Brimfield defeated Winamsfield 63 43 with Nyaal Cecil scoring 30 and Wyman 9. Dasao and Ashley each had 6, Herder and Bigee 8. Brimfield led 22 13 at halftime and 41 34 entering the final period. In the early game Brimfield fell 68 35 with Wyman 17 and Dangan 6 each for Brimfield. Emwood beat Brimfield 70 54 on Brimfield’s home floor. Wyman led with 17, Cecil 10, Ashley and Dungan 6 each. Fayette Brimfield game set for Friday at the local gym. doors open 6:30 pm with first ball at 7:46.

MARTIN LUTGER Screened At St Pauls Church Sunday Night

The motion picture MARTIN LUTGER will be shown at St Pauls Lutheran Church Sunday at 7 30 PM as part of Family Night sponsored by St Pauls Mens Gleb. The film, about the Reformation hero, drew box office records years ago in theatres. Admission is free and there is no offering. The public is invited to attend, coffee will be served afterward by the Mens Club.
