On September 1 a memorial service will be held at the old stone chapel of Jubilee College for Bishop Philander Chase who founded the institution in 1835. S. P. Hasselbacher obituary in Yates City Elmwood Gazette
Simon Peter Hasselbacher died at 7 16 Tuesday morning at Mitchell Sanatorium Peoria after a stroke. He was 74 born September 25 1864 in Rosefield township Peoria County and longtime Yates City station agent for the C B Q railroad. He married twice and belonged to Elmwood Odd Fellows Rebekahs Woodmen Lodge and other orders. Surviving are his widow and three children from the first marriage, a brother and two sisters. Funeral rites were conducted at the Chamberlain residence with Rev G W Leonard. burial in Yates City cemetery.
