The annual Catton reunion will be held at Jubilee State Park on Sunday September 3.

Mrs Glen Despines Dies After Short Illness

Mrs Glen Despines died in St Francis hospital Thursday evening after a brief illness. Born Florence Norma Turner Despines on October 21 1900 in Lewistows she married Glen Despines November 8 1915 at Pexin. Survived by nine of twelve children with husband plus Victor Butkovich and Victor Butkovich Jr a son-in-law her parents two sisters Mildred Oma three brothers and a grandson. Funeral services were held Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev A C A Lee officiating and burial in Brimfield cemetery.

Eastern Motor Trip Highlights Chalmer Forneys Tour

Mr and Mrs Chalmer Forneys eastern journey covered 3611/2 miles from Ohio through Pennsylvania to New York Famed attractions included Lincoln Caverns in Acquindo Pennsylvania RCA building tours in Rockefeller City Radio City Music Hall and the RCA internals Firestone and Hobby Lobby broadcasts White Mountains Vermont New Hampshire and Maine to Quebec and Ontario Canadian sights included grain elevators churches Montmorency Falls and the Quiptuplets at Calendar Ontario The trip noted rural Canada where most farmers travel by horse and few cars and bread markets dot the roadside The group saw Niagara Falls Royal Oak Shrine of the Little Flower and Coughlin in mid Canada before returning home.

Mrs Himmel Is Guest of Honor At Country Home Event

Mrs Kenneth Himmel formerly Danet Tally a recent bride and former Srimfield High student was hosted at a country home Sunday afternoon. About twenty friends attended bringing gifts for the guest of honor. The Misses Rita Cahill Martha Minor and Kathryn Talmage helped host the gathering.

French Grove Social Guests and Picnic Vignettes

The A. R. Moore family visited grandmother Adams home in French Grove as neighbors enjoyed the Old Settlers and Farm Bureau picnic. Peoria visitors Mrs Emily McCoy and family planned a stay at the McCoy home Windanmar. Various relatives from Chicago Maywood Spirit Lake Iowa Eldorado Kansas Gary Urbana and Ohio joined relatives for visits and a lawn picnic last Tuesday.

Coolidge McMullen Bride Clifton McMullen Marry in Elmwood Parsonage

Miss Alice Louise Coolidge younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Bert Coolidge of Elmwood became the bride of Clifton McMullen in a ceremony read by Rev J M Hall at the Elmwood Methodist parsonage. They were attended by Mr and Mrs Edson McMullen. The couple will live with the groom's parents in Yates City. The groom works for Midwest Manufacturing Co in Galesburg.

Maher Reunion Set for Labor Day at Silverleaf

The sixteenth Maher Klan reunion will be at Silverleaf on Labor Day September. A basket picnic starts at noon. Officers elected include President James E. Vacationists Meet With Misfortune

A Ozarks vacation trip ended badly for Donald Corney Wilbur Tully and Clarence Luthy. Early Monday they rode out when a car sideswiped a frash injuring Corney with a broken arm and Tully with a badly gashed leg. Luthy was unhurt and Elmer Corney drove down after hearing the news.

Former Brimfield Folks Meet Sandy At Tea

An airmail letter from California friends reports about thirty five friends gathering at the late A D Mc Coy home in Glendalee California on Saturday afternoon August 19 arranged by George A Parcell. The event preceded the departure for Illinois of Mr and Mrs Leta Dow and Alice Harris to meet and acquaint themselves with Little Sandy of movie fame who was accompanied by her father and mother Eleanor Pares Henville Weekless.

Old Settlers Picnic Brims With Friends From Many Towns

Oldtimers from Peoria Galesburg Danville Urbana and beyond gathered at the old school park for the Old Settlers picnic despite early storms. An afternoon program of music and dancing was followed by platform prizes for the oldest man and woman oldest married couple and longest distance attendee Dr Edna Johnson from Boulder Calo traveled 950 miles to attend. Two lengthy baseball games drew crowds with Brimfield beating Monica 6 5 in thirteen innings and Peoria Stockyards 9ers 6 1 over another team. A long list of attendees from Peoria Galesburg Prairie City Rock Falls and other areas filled the program with numerous families and friends attending from across the region.

Manx Picnic Calls Manxmen to Bradley Park Peoria
