All members of the American Legion are urged to attend a special meeting in Judge Harding’s office Tuesday night at 7:30 on Aug 15. A Brimfield Township Protective Association meeting and other interested locals will meet at the Village Hall on Wednesday at 7:30 on Aug 16. Miss Mildred Pacey spends the week in Chicago with friends and attends the fair.
Rev. D. H. McCown departs Knoxville for California after a career as a minister and civic leader. The Knoxville Republican lauds his work and influence, noting his farewell drew delegations from neighboring towns. His Sunday solo at the Methodist church was a fitting benediction to his Illinois life.
Brimfield Township High School opens registration for the coming year with juniors and seniors to register August 22 at 9 00 a m and freshmen and sophomores on August 23 at 9 00 a m Book exchanges encouraged to dispose of or acquire used texts and to check new graduation requirements at the University of Illinois. Faculty list provided and notes on enrollment and notable family events including a marriage and family visits.
In Knoxville the men and boys of the Christian Church attended services in workwear as invited by Pastor W. W. Vose. He said the event proved Sunday attire isn’t required to worship, arguing the Devil uses Sunday clothes to keep people away. The group voted to maintain work clothes for about six weeks.
