The Brimfield community plans transforming a Galena avenue building into a permanent library. Limited funds exist, so residents are urged to contribute labor and materials. A July 6 1882 Brimfield News note lists local assesses and livestock values, with grain and acreage figures for the township.
A guidance piece arguing that true road safety stems from a courteous driving mindset not better cars or roads. It warns accidents rise when drivers overestimate safety on improved roads and urges obeying simple rules such as no corner cutting, no passing on curves, and keeping safe headway. It promotes “courteous driving” as a practical safety ethic.
An old style call urges households to begin building and repair work now as costs rise for materials and labor. It argues that high prices and wage levels will persist, making one last chance to buy property improvements at low costs. Emphasizes that providing jobs and purchasing power is wiser than charity.
Alumni committees plan an Old Settler's Day supper at 6:30 p m with about two hundred guests. A 35 cent charge covers food entertainment. no advance reservations needed. Invitations target B H S graduates and spouses, pre 1896 attendees, and former teachers. the class of 1933 will be honored.

Radio television demonstrations, a $25,000 lineup of free acts, and a nightly horse show debut. Veterans Day on August 20 features drills bands and a grandstand audience. Gladys and Margaretta Carter with their cousin go to Chicago for days at the fair. A University group tests corn varieties at Hubert Oakes Friday afternoon. Raymond Phares of California visits Monday supper with cousins H L Reed. Mrs. Lilian Higgs Craniall and her mother visit from Gloversville to Oak Place with H L Reed last week. Loren Qakes and friends visit Oak Place. guests include Giles Penstone William Alexander and Clarence Martin of Chicago. Doren and the two latter extend their visit for a week.
Laura Items John Smith spent the weekend in Toulon with high school friends. Mrs. and Mrs. Water Smith spent Monday evening at the Everett Reinolds home. Misses Maxine and Nelma May Barrett of Lineville Iowa visit John McIbravy. Birthday party at W B Beauchamp home honors Neva Riel Jessie Lassure Merle Carter. Various locals attend dances, visits, and family gatherings at homes in Peoria Williamsfield Chillicothe and nearby areas.

Ming Tillie-Simons visiting South Dakota after time with Walter Mailier and Wm Simons at Monica. Curtis Cady made a business trip to Chicago from Hollywood residence. A few hours of visiting Wednesday prior to coast trip. note on State Fair economy and anticipated savings at the exposition.

Funeral services for Mrs. L S Barrett were held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Princeville after her death at home south of Princeville on July 19. She was born August 1, 1839 near Dunlap in Peoria County, married L S Barrett in 1883, and leaves a husband, two children Claudia and Roy, two sisters, and a brother, with many relatives and friends mourning her Christian life.
Charles Snyder of Garden City Missouri arrived Thursday evening for a visit with his brother in law H R Johnson and relatives. He is a retired locomotive engineer from Missouri Pacific. The Snyder family were early arrivals from the east to Charleston and lived there until after the Civil War. He notes drought affecting Cass County crops and says Illinois corn is in better condition than Missouri corn.
A remarkable scientific article in The American Weekly claims a digestere technique can revive the life spark in men and women. The Chicago Herald and Examiner distributed the magazine with next Sunday editions.
Students and alumni will play a mixed tennis tournament with semi finals and finals on Old Settlers Day. Entry fees are singles 1c and doubles 15c. Gold and silver medals will be awarded to first and second places. Mail entries to Ell Cornwell before August 10.
The West End store, now under new proprietor C. M. Travis, wears a fresh coat of paint and a rearranged interior. Travis, formerly a partner of H. A. Griggs since 1917, has purchased Griggs interest and will continue to offer a full line of quality groceries, fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices.
An ancient village landmark, the east wall of the Yoakam family stone house, was found unsafe after last spring rains and has been torn down for weeks. The residence, one of the village’s oldest, is believed to date to around 1845, similar to the Episcopal church nearby. Foster Miller purchased the property last year and is overseeing the demolition.
A group from Peoria and surrounding towns plans a trip to the Chicago Fair aboard a bus on Wednesday morning. passengers include Mrs Fritz Koeer Mr and Mrs Harry McMullen Bill Conrad Mrs Irvings Bragg Eileen Bernice Ruth Bragg Betty Schulthes Doris Louise Coon Jennie McCoy Clementine Gilles Clyde Edith Carter Dorothy Ciesson Russell Purcell Henry Dean Russell Bragg Mrs Joe McCoy Mildred Carton Virginia Helen Clark Norma Efnor Margaret Bowman Lucille Melva La Follette Dave Hasselbacher Willard Edwin Barbara Johnson and Mrs Earl Maher.
