Mr and Mrs Wilbert Phillipe of Peoria spent the weekend at the Charles Exkena home and are now occupying an apartment at 909 Antoi notte.
Tax books for Jubilee township are ready. R K Caraon, tax collector, will operate from Memiers Store with a busy six week period. L B White will be at Baysiegas implement shop on March 15 and Saturdays through April 8 to collect taxes, and at his home at other times.

Business needs faith in the future to risk capital, yet taxes and regulations restrain growth. Sixty people attend a community gathering at the school with songs and readings led by Mrs Forster.
Laura Sims and Wilbur Symmonds of Peoria with son Charles visited relatives Friday. Mr and Mrs Wilbert Phillips of Peoria spent Sunday evening with Cecil Milter. Sir and Mrs Orville King and son visited Oak Hill with Wilnenheim family. Alex Danivant and son June of St David spent weekend with Atha Danivant. Mary Miller returned home after visiting son and family. Don Webster and children and Clarence Emery and Tom Miller spent Saturday in Keeaace. John Smith and wife announce birth of baby boy named John Sheridan born April 3 at Princeville hospital. Funeral attendees for Mrs Vivian Perry at Pattonsburg included Mrs Lee Brown, Mrs Paul Noland, Mrs Wm Klasman and Leonie Gill.
Miss Mary Nasal and Uavern Reich Cucker united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church Davenport Iowa officiated by Reverend Harms. The bride wore royal blue with tea roses and wore her mother’s wedding bracelet. Attendant Mrs Louis Heiser wore black and carried pink carnations and sweet peas. The couple are from Kewanee and Laura with families listed. both work locally.
Wolfgang Zweifel a longtime Peoria resident for 73 years and father of Mrs. Wm Johnson died Monday at his home. Born eighty nine years ago in Greta Canton St Gallen Switzerland he spent fifty six years in Peoria in contracting and also ran a Peoria grocery.
Mrs Flora Nickeson died Thursday afternoon after three weeks illness at her daughter Lorena Kratzer’s Oak Hill home. Four daughters survive including Leah Gustav Nyssa Oregon Violet Maher Henrietta Nixon and Mrs Kratzer of Oak Hill. She died March 8 1922 and was preceded by four brothers and two sisters. Surviving sisters include Faceva Challacombe Jubilee Henrietta Guyer Brimfield Roberta Felton Knoxville and Ancle Keyser Elmwood.
Peoria city property has been assessed at about 35 percent of its sale value while farm and village properties average around 47 percent. The rebalance aims to correct inequities across county townships with a summer review by the state tax commission and Farm Bureau committee members Chas. A. Haller Paul Garker and Dan Metoy plus help from John G. Watson of the Illinois Agricultural Association.
Miss May Hathway died at home in Yates City on Tuesday morning April 4. Born May 9, 1858 in Beim field township she was 80 years and 10 months old. She was the third of eight children of Edwin Bradford and May Swanson Hathway, all predeceased. For thirty years she sheltered the children of her deceased sister Getitia Elliot. Funeral at the Methodist church in Yates City Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Leonard and Rev. M. J. Hal officiating. interment in Brimfield.
The Johy Juniores 4 H group, 13 girls including Ruth Carson Beverley Christian Ruth Ann Maher Kathleen Sbeck Edith Elsie Knight June Pacey Marjorie Capron Betty Jane Savord Mary Rita Cathy Ann Edwards Jackie and Barbara Riggs, met last Saturday to rehearse their stunt for the April 15 rally at Princeville. A 3:30 Saturday, April 8 meeting at the high school was announced by reporter Barbara Riggs.
Voters across Lively Township cast ballots amid surprises in a wide range of races. Notable results include Brimfield Township straight Republican 202 and for supervisor Ira Martin 365, with defeated Democratic contender Lerin Trowbridge 140. Reed Bios dy elected school trustee. Millbrook logged a record 408 ballots. dry vote on liquor prohibition 198 yes, 193 no. Rosefield turnout high with multiple contests including road commissioner and constable races.

The grade school preliminary declamation and vocal contests take place Wednesday evening April 12 at 7. Participants include boys and girls with topics such as Dad the Great Mathematician and Hudsonville Gets On The Map. Selections span piano and chorus pieces by local students and instructors.
The Standard Oil Service Station changes charges this week. Charles Mc Cartney joining FR.F Powers. Rob Miars has leased the station with Melive McCoy as assistant and is now operating it. The new manager plans two lines of accessories and tires, plus gas and oil sales.
