James F Stephens longtime Monmouth resident dies at daughter’s home after months of illness due to bronchial asthma. Born September 19 1841 in Martins Ferry Ohio, she moved to Illinois as a child and lived mainly in Peoria and Warren counties. Surviving children Mildred Willard Vera Lister Dale and Lewis Monmouth. two stepsons Horace Peoria and May of Oklahoma. two grandchildren Dorothy Willard and Billy Stephens. funeral held at Monmouth United Presbyterian Church with interment in local cemetery.

French Grove social notes and meeting changes

French Grove ladies and visitors from Peoria Canton and Galesburg shared social visits this week. The French Grove Improvement Society moves its meeting to April 13 with hostesses Susie Welch Gladys Lyon and Artie Foster at the Welch home. District 87 community night pot luck supper and entertainment is this Friday at the schoolhouse.

Ill and long-serving Elmwood resident dies at 80

Mrs. W. F. Gmahle died Tuesday morning at her daughter Mrs. Earl Maher home after weeks of illness from a fractured hip. Born in Marietta Ohio she married Wm. F. Gmahle in 1888 and lived in Elmwood since 188. A private funeral will be held at the Maher home Friday afternoon with Rev. M. H. Hall officiating. Burial follows in Elmwood cemetery. Survived by her husband a daughter four grandchildren five sisters and two brothers.

Elmwood Band Leader Charles Scragg Dies Suddenly

Charles Scragg retired Sunday night and died of a heart attack. He had managed the Elmwood band for many years and was widely known in the community.

Brimfield Pioneer Lucian G. Cady Dies After Short Illness

Lucian G. Cady lifelong Brimfield resident dies Friday after a brief illness. Born August 19 1864 to Curtis and Abigail Cady he farmed near Brimfield after marriage to Mary Elizabeth Phares on December 30 1886. He later managed Brimfield Elevator and served local offices, ending as Cemetery Association secretary. Funeral services were held at Union Church with Reverend David Todd officiating. Burial in Brimfield Cemetery.

Former Pastor H B Cox Dies in Eldorado Illinois

The Reverend H B Cox, longtime pastor in Eldorado Illinois, died at home after forty five years in ministry. Born November 2 1869 at Astoria he was 66 years old. Survived by his wife and six children funeral and burial in Eldorado followed his Brimfield Baptist service earlier in his career and a 1901 move to Farmington.
