KINNIE OUTLINES FLOOD CONTROLS
Rowland road area would be asked to cooperate in building up their beach areas. It would not be necessary to proceed beyond the Rowland road area with the raising of beach fronts as the other cottages are protected by seawall. West of Reef road the gravel dike across Pine creek near the Town dump would be extended to Beaufield beach road. Fairfield Beach road would be raised three feet on a 3 percent grade to act as a barrier against the water. Completion of the gravel dike from the sand screening plant to the old town dump off South Pine Creek road should provide an ample barrier against water flooding the Oldfield school, Eastlawn and Roane street areas. Some steps have been taken to correct a breach in Fairfield beach west of Reef road where wind has washed from underneath four cottages due to lack of a seawall. A long range plan recommends jetties at Pine Creek and at ten Mings head, proposed in the Army Engineers survey four years ago, to curb flooding. The plan would be studied by the Army Engineer Corps. The Flood Control committee toured the shoreline area with Selectmen Krunie and others.
