Black Rock Plans New Branch Bank
The Black Rock Bank and Trust will build a branch at Black Rock turnpike and Stillson road in Fairfield with opening slated for February 1955. Harold C. Main, president, said the Connecticut Banking Commission granted permission. The full service facility will include parking and serve Fairfield and surrounding areas. The site measures 344 by 200 feet at the southwest corner of the intersection. Fred P. Carstensen, chairman, noted proximity to the main office and continued expansion plans. The bank, founded in 1926, built its current Fairfield building in 1920 and remodeled in 1936. In Washington, the Supreme Court announced it will hear further argument on December 6 regarding its school desegregation decision.
