Chicago May 2 Dr Florenz Ziegfeld president emeritus of the Chicago Musical College and father of Flo Ziegfeld died at his home early today at age 82 with his two sons Flo and Woh Ziegfeld and his daughter Mrs Wills E Buh of Detroit at his bedside. He was a pupil of Liszt and Wagner and a major contributor to the development of music in America. He founded the Chicago Musical College in 1867 and promoted American musical ideals abroad. He was decorated by France with the Legion of Honor and survived by his wife Rosalie De He and three children.
Chanel I Anthes longtime Danbury city clerk died at his home at 74 Garfield avenue aged 42 after a year of declining health. Born in Poughkeepsie NY he came to Danbury 17 years ago as an accountant and auditor and was elected city clerk in 1919 reelected in 1921 and 1923. Funeral from his home Tuesday morning will go to Poughkeepsie for burial. The Common Council may appoint a successor with Henry Panton a former city assistant clerk likely to fill unexpired term through 1926.

Washington May 20 Representative Frear Republican Wisconsin announced in a letter to Brewshat that he will introduce a regulation at the next session calling on Governor General Wood of the Philippines for the facts regarding published charges that Senators Representatives and others in Washington social life have received pay from the Philippine Independence commission. These charges, if correct, amount to a wholesale indictment of 431 representatives and 96 senators. Every supporter of Philippine independence would be under suspicion of purchasable opinions, a likely aim of the slander in Congress.
A U.S. Navy sailor, Kermit I. White of Utah, leapt from the Charlestown bridge into the Charles River. A rescue attempt by a bridge tender failed as the body surfaced briefly once, and divers recovered him about an hour later. No cause for the suicide is known.
