Draft labor relief reduces local draft inductions
Bridgeport and area draft boards saved farmers from June 24 induction by omitting Bridgeport's six districts. Earlier exemptions for agricultural workers were superseded by a Governor Holcomb order directing officials to fill quotas regardless. Board No 13 could not meet May quota and might have drafted farmers if districts hadn't been omitted. Class One A total remains small, but new registrations may cover July and August needs.
