Garlick ruled death an accidental electrocution after the son delivered lunch, feet in water, and a short circuit occurred when contact was made with motor apparatus. Dr. Matthew J. Daley and workers cut the current and tried to revive Golightly for about thirty minutes without success.

Canoeists' Bodies Recovered in Housatonic River
Etta Libby and Doster Springer drowned in the Housatonic near Shelton before the Yale Harvard boat race. Two local youths in a rowboat recovered the bodies near the dam, the girl entangled with the boy, both near the surface.
