A prisoner named Rain Runner escaped Westport town jail after breaking through iron window bars. He is already convicted of transporting liquor and is being held pending payment of a fine. Police launched a search and warned residents to report sightings.
Westport July 20 Special to the Telegram Laborio Crapanzano a Boston suspect escaped from a rear basement room in the town hall after prying out a four foot iron window bar. State police were not notified and officials said the case was handled by local authorities and court officials as a manhunt began with Massachusetts and New York search efforts continuing late tonight.
Leonard J Maloney, a claims adjuster for the Connecticut company in Bridgeport, was arrested on embezzlement and forgery charges totaling 1009 dollars. He was held at police headquarters after failing to post bond, with the case stemming from alleged improper financial dealings tied to accident settlements.
