William H. H. Anderson, state superintendent of the Anti Saloon League of New York, was convicted by a Supreme Court jury on both counts of third degree forgery linked to splitting commissions with a former league fund solicitor. Sentencing set for Friday February 8. An appeal likely.
Washington D C Jan 29 Special to The Telegram After months of study the Post Office Department issued a program for mailing and delivering newspapers. The order grants newspapers the same dispatch as first class mail and requires careful handling to avoid delays. Papers shall not be mixed with parcels post from publisher to address. Fairfield voters approve a 460,060 high school building appropriation after two years of dispute. Sherman hall hosts 500 voters as Clarence Hall is chosen moderator. The plan includes 13 classrooms a home economics room and a combined gymnasium and auditorium. Bradley opposed.
Lieutenant Hamilton Griffis, an American imprisoned in Germany for involvement with the Bergdoll draft-dodger affair, has received a pardon. Formalities to release him are to be completed within hours, with Griffis expected to depart for the United States soon after.

New York January 28 De Wolfe Hopper the musical comedy star is divorced from his fifth wife Hedda Hopper in Queens Supreme Court. She receives a guaranteed alimony not less than eighty dollars weekly and custody of their seven year old son William. The divorce suit began in February 1922 citing infidelity with multiple alleged misconducts in Pelham Boston and New York City.
