Court Rebukes Youths Over Snowball Incident In Westport

In Westport on a chilly January day the town court dismissed eight youths from Compo and Saugatuck after a hearing. The case involved accusations of mischief and snowball throwing at people and property. The judge condemned a local paper for branding the youths as gangsters and released the boys with probation plans discussed but rejected by one father, John Ryan, who argued no guilty finding had been reached. The matter led to further community debate on youth behavior and local enforcement.
