Mellon Refuses Data on Foreign Embassies Liquor Imports
Secretary Mellon declined to provide to the House information on the amounts of intoxicating liquors imported by foreign embassies and legations in Washington since Prohibition began. He cited diplomatic immunity and public interest, saying the data would clash with international law and would not be transmitted. Representative Cramton introduced the resolution but had no immediate comment, noting he would study the letter.
