Hollywood Florida December 10 AP stocky Gilbert Mead Jr 46 of Stamford Connecticut sought since last Sunday for questioning in the murder of his wife Evelyn Campbell Mead and Dominick Albanizio was arrested in Fort Lauderdale He admitted orally that he killed his wife and her cohabitant early Sunday morning in Hollywood He was caught trying to exchange a rented car at an agency where he had obtained it last week Detectives arrested him as a blue Ford matching his rental car was spotted Mead said you know who I am I’m Mead He claimed he would have killed himself but was stopped The Hollywood Police say he had a .32 revolver in his pocket and denied harming Richard Dimon the boy from a former marriage Warrants were issued for the murders Mead previously paroled in Massachusetts after armed robbery and was known as the phantom burglar after a spree of splits in Stamford

Midget saves aerialist as she plunges during act
In Sarasota on December 10, a 4 foot, 105 pound midget clown named Alvin Schwartz threw himself into the path of an aerialist, Gladys Rimmer, who slipped and fell. UN condemns China for jailing of airmen in Korea
The United Nations Assembly voted 47 to 5 to condemn Red China for jailing 11 American airmen as spies. It urged Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold to secure their release and free hundreds of UN personnel still detained from the Korean War.
