Parents groups urge repairs at 16 city schools
Parents' groups from 16 public schools pressed the Board of Education to include in its 1955 56 budget requisitions funds for repairs at those schools. At a public hearing on a budget over 6.1 million dollars, school maintenance chief Albert A Snyder cited a 398 900 request for repairs while noting total costs could reach 1 000 000 to 2 000 000 to rehabilitate all older city schools.
