Republicans defer naming alderman wait for Connor
A First District Republican club meeting to endorse alderman and delegates was postponed until former Postmaster Arthur F. Connor returns. Edward Gil Jane was initially named for alderman with Edward L. Dunphy and John Green for delegates, but the club appears likely to back Robert T. Cherry for alderman renewal as town committee supports Cherry. McNamara, the organizer, cites strict party discipline and hints at potential leadership friction with District Chairman Robert Gould.
