PUTPUT INCREASE LEADS LABOR SAYS INDUSTRIAL REPORT
A National Industrial Conference Board study argues that rising manufacturing output per worker over the past decade boosted real wages and cut human energy per unit of production. It notes employment did not keep pace with output since 1900, yet higher efficiency expanded opportunities and improved living standards despite lower immigration.

Catholic senator Walsh as VP candidate in 1928 convention
The 1928 national convention showed strong push to nominate Catholic Senator Thomas J Walsh of Montana for vice president while preserving Smith as a potential presidential nominee. Walsh, a dry from the West, was effectively nominated by acclamation due to his role as presiding officer, though Catholic status was seen as a handicap. Walsh might have been a leading 1924 candidate if not for the Smith-Adoo feud.
