Inheritance Tax Case Tests State Rights Says Governor
Hartford August 4 Governor John H Trumbull says Western states support state rights against Federal action as they seek repeal of the Federal inheritance tax law. He notes repeal would affirm state taxing power and keep revenue within borders while farm relief and flood issues dominate talk at the conference. He adds Connecticut helped push repeal and that most governors favor aiding farmers without direct subsidies, though few support the McNary Haugen plan.
